Woman Sexually Assaulted In Natomas Home Invasion

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) -- Police investigators said they are looking into whether a Sunday morning sexual assault is connected to two similar home invasions in the area.

An unidentified suspect -- described as a black male adult in his 20s, about six feet tall, 200 pounds, and wearing a white hooded sweatshirt and baggy jeans -- entered an apartment on the 4800 block of Kokomo Drive at around 2:00 a.m. and held up a woman at gunpoint.

The suspect sexually assaulted the victim and robbed her apartment unit, authorities said, before fleeing.

The crime shares some characteristics with two other home invasions that took place in South Natomas over the recent weeks, according to the Sacramento Police Department. In both incidents, the suspect entered an open garage door early in the morning and robbed the male victims at gunpoint, police said.

"There was no sexual assault in either of those incidents, but because of the suspect description and some of the other details associated with the investigation, [detectives] are going to look into the possibility they are linked," said Officer Laura Peck.

Natomas residents are urged to make sure all windows and doors are locked and secure, investigators said.

Anyone with information on the crime is asked to contact Crime Alert by calling (916) 443-HELP or by texting 275637 with "SACTIP" at the beginning of the message.
