Woman Revived After Being Rescued From Burning Home
NORTH HIGHLANDS (CBS13) – A woman is alive but in critical condition after being rescued from her burning home and resuscitated by firefighters Friday morning.
The Sacramento Metro Fire Department said flames and smoke were already shooting out of the home on the 3000 block of Don Julio Boulevard when they responded just before 8:00 a.m. Friday, and firefighters quickly moved to rescue an unresponsive 51-year-old woman from the residence.
Sacramento Metro Fire Captain Brad Dessert said crews began performing CPR on the unconscious victim while waiting for paramedics, and when she was loaded into the ambulance, emergency crews found that she regained her pulse.
"Firefighting is a team sport and if everybody does their job, just like a professional team, then we're going to have a successful outcome," Dessert said.
The victim was rushed to the UC Davis Medical Center, where she is listed in critical condition due to burns and smoke inhalation. Her identity has not been released.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
