Woman Poses As Dr.'s Secretary To Buy Pills

A Rancho Cordova woman thought she had a good plan by posing as a doctor's secretary and calling in prescriptions to a local pharmacy, until the pharmacy manager called the doctor to verify the order.

Christina Thompson, 23, called in a prescription for 60 Norco pills to a Folsom pharmacy by giving a false name and showed up to pick up the medication the same day, according to investigators.

The pharmacy manager called the doctor to verify the order, which the doctor had no record of.   When Thompson came into the pharmacy to pickup the pills, she was greeted by investigators from the Folsom Police Department Criminal Investigation Bureau.

According to authorities, Thompson was in possession of methamphetamine, a pipe, one counterfeit $20, and one counterfeit $10.

Investigators say that Thompson has an extensive history of committing the same offense.  Apparently, she used over eight different aliases to commit crimes on multiple occasions.  She was also charged with burglary, forging a prescription, receiving stolen property, and possession of a controlled substance.

Sergeant Eric Heichlinger said "The hold diverted prescription opiates have on addicts is terrifying. Nothing, not people, nor criminal law, will stand in between them and their addiction. As we've seen in recent weeks in the Sacramento Region, the problem is growing exponentially. Hopefully the teamwork we've showed between the doctor, the pharmacy, and police will slow this trend."

Thompson is currently being held without bail at the Sacramento County Jail.
