UPDATE: Police Identify Woman Shot And Killed In Sacramento Home

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Authorities have identified the woman found dead inside her Sacramento home on Tuesday afternoon.

Rebecca Brau

The Sacramento County Coroner's website identifies the woman as 53-year-old Rebecca Brau.

A day after police found Brau's body, the search is still on for her killer.

Deputies are continuing to interview the woman who found Brau's body just before 4 p.m. on Tuesday at Brau's Mascot Avenue home. She's now in police custody under other charges, but deputies are stopping short of calling her a suspect in the killing.

"The victim's roommate called to report she had returned home and found the victim deceased from a gunshot wound,"

Brau's sister did not want to show her face on camera or talk about the investigation, but called her a wonderful mother to an 8- and 13-year-old.

"She was very devoted to her children. She loved her children and it's just sad."

Neighbors like Yolanda Alegria also knew her well.

"I can't believe it. I mean how can their kids go through this," she said.

Brau's sister is hopeful an arrest will be made soon.

"I have faith and know that God will bring justice. I'm leaving that up to the professionals."
