Woman Jailed For Stabbing Friend, Trapping Her In Trunk

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) -- Police arrested a woman Sunday who allegedly attacked a friend and forced her into the trunk of a car for hours.

Darla Williams, 43, began arguing with a female friend as they drove into Sacramento from out of town early Saturday morning, eventually escalated the fight into a physical assault, according to the Sacramento Police Department.

The victim was forced into the trunk of the car at knifepoint, and Williams began driving around town for hours, only stopping on occasion to stab the victim with a knife, investigators said.

The wounded woman managed to open the trunk from the inside and escape when the car came to a stop, running to the door of a startled Dave Norris at about 4:30 a.m.

"I would have never imagined waking up to something like that," Norris said. "She did look like she had multiple stab wounds."

Sacramento Police Sgt. Norm Leong said the woman probably saved her own life with her escape and could have bled to death if she had not acted.

"No one knew that she was being held captive," Sgt. Leong said. "This could have been a murder we may or may not have solved."

Williams allegedly fled in the victim's car and was arrested on Sunday on charges of attempted murder, robbery, kidnapping, threats and vehicle theft. She is being held without bail and is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday afternoon.
