Woman Accused Of Stabbing Mother Worried Lawyer Is Out To Fool Her
AUBURN (CBS13) — A daughter accused of stabbing her mother at a Sheridan home made her first court appearance on Friday.
There was no family support in the courtroom for Ana Maria Bejenariu, and the 32-year-old appears to already distrust her lawyer.
Bejenariu walked into the courtroom, escorted by three extra guards while wearing a green bullet-proof vest.
As soon as she was appointed a public defender, she appeared to be at odds with her attorney.
After a quick back-and-forth between Bejenariu and the attorney, the judge called a recess. That is when the murder suspect repeated to the bailiffs that she couldn't trust her attorney and worried that the lawyer may be out to fool her.
Deputies are not saying what led to the stabbing of 61-year-old Maria Bejenariu, but CBS13 has learned the Placer County Sheriff's Department has made several visits to the Sheridan home for family disputes.
Bejenariu did not enter a plea and will be back in court on Thursday.
