Woman, 71, Chases Off Robbery Suspect
STOCKTON (CBS13) -- A 71-year-old woman chased off a would-be robber who demanded money from the woman's daughter at a beauty supply store in downtown Stockton.
After casing out Gold Star Beauty Supply for about 30 minutes, the man handed In Paek's daughter a note that said "Give me all the money or I will shoot you."
She stalled for a while and another store employee approached the suspect, not knowing it was a robbery attempt.
Then Paek entered the store from the family's business next door on E. Main Street, grabbed the man by the shoulder and pushed him out the door. She didn't stop there, chasing the much larger man down the street.
The encounter was caught on the store's surveillance video.
Through an interpreter, Paek, who is Korean, said she'd lived a long life and was more concerned about her daughter's safety.
The family told CBS13's Andrea Menniti that the store has never been robbed before but that they'll step up security after this incident.
