Wildfires Burning Throughout El Dorado, Foothills Counties
EL DORADO COUNTY (CBS13) -- Ten wildfires burning in El Dorado County are all expected to be contained by Saturday, according to CAL FIRE.
The fires in the Grizzly Flat and Omo Ranch areas of the county cover 160 acres. CAL FIRE has more than 400 firefighters working the blazes.
CAL FIRE crews have also been busy working fires in Tuolumne and Calaveras counties. There are five fires covering 300 acres in that area in various stages of containment.
The fires have been fueled by intense winds that have gusted to nearly 100 mph in some areas on Wednesday and Thursday. The high winds knocked down dozens of trees in Tuolumne County, including one that trapped a woman inside her home and another that split a dentist's office in half.
About 13,000 PG&E customers in Tuolumne County were without power on Friday, and another 3,535 customers were affected in Calaveras and Amador counties, with 3,250 of those in the town of Arnold.
The winds have died down Friday and are expected to further slow down over the weekend.
The forecast calls for sunny but cool temperatures in the 50s during the day and dropping down to the mid-30s at night in the Sacramento region.
