Deadly Crash On Westbound I-80 Into Sacramento; All Lanes Back Open

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – A deadly crash caused a heavy traffic backup on westbound Interstate 80 into Sacramento Monday morning.

It happened just before 5 a.m. near the Capital City Freeway split. California Highway Patrol says four cars and a motorcycle were involved.

Witnesses told CHP that a motorcyclist was speeding down the freeway, weaving in and out of traffic, when it sideswiped a car and crashed.

Authorities say the motorcyclist died.

The accident caused major delays for those traveling on westbound I-80 as all but one lane were blocked for a time. All lanes were reopened just before 8 a.m.
