VIDEO: Van Crashes Into West Sacramento Liquor Store In Apparent Burglary Attempt, Gets Stuck
WEST SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Owners of a West Sacramento liquor store spent Friday cleaning up and making arrangements for repairs after a person rammed a cargo van into their front doors early in the morning.
West Sacramento Police say the incident happened just after 4 a.m. at Southport Liquor Mart off of Jefferson Boulevard.
Surveillance video shows a suspect tried to crash into the store, but got stuck instead and couldn't make an entrance inside. Later they're seen exiting the van, grabbing their skateboard and walking away. Police have not identified a suspect yet.
For regular customers like Tony Lopez, the sight was quite a surprise.
"I saw the door open," Lopez said. "I had to turn around and make a u-turn to check it out. I saw and I was like oh my god, no."

An hour after the attempted break-in, daylight revealed significant damage. Lopez, very familiar with the area, said he's seen crime before but this time was very different.
"They've broken in, but not destroyed the store like this," he said.
Nothing was taken from the store. Though in these tough times, some customers feel for the owners of the store who now have to shell out their own cash to clean up after the crime.
"They know everyone who comes in and out," said Gary Munguia, a regular customer. "We know them. It's different when it's a small business like this."
The liquor store was open on Friday, but the store's owners do expect they may need to close at some point for repairs.
