Warriors' New Arena To Be Called Chase Center
In a little more than three years the Golden State Warriors will have a new shiny stadium in Mission Bay, California. The new 18,000 seat arena now has a name, Chase Center. The financial specifics aren't known at this time but it's believed to be around the $200 million that Barclays paid for the arena for the Brooklyn Nets.
Now, at this moment, all the Warriors have is a picture and a name. No shovels are in the ground because a group of donors to UCSF have two lawsuits against the development project but Warrior President Rick Welts doesn't see it being that big of a problem.
When talking about the inevitability of the project Welts said, "We are just one lawsuit away from being able to put a shovel in the ground."
One funny note is that one of the people who tried and failed to block the public subsidy for the new $507 million Kings arena, Sacramento attorney Patrick Soluri, will now try to stop the $1 billion arena in the bay area.
The Warriors are the best team in the league and the most fun to watch so sponsorship probably wasn't to hard to come by. Along with Warrior games the arena will also host concerts and conventions and have offices, shops and restaurants all around the new arena, assuming it opens on schedule.
