VP candidate Tim Walz holds fundraiser at California Gov. Newsom's Fair Oaks home
SACRAMENTO — Four weeks before Election Day, Sacramento is front and center in the Presidential race.
Democratic Vice Presidential candidate Tim Walz flew in for a fundraising stop at Governor Gavin Newsom's home in Fair Oaks.
Walz arrived at Sacramento International Airport and walked down the stairs with his daughter. They were met by California Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis, Congressmember Doris Matsui, and Mayor Darrell Steinberg.
Walz did not stop to talk to reporters. He could be heard briefly shouting a greeting.
His motorcade took him to Newsom's home, where the governor introduced Walz to the crowd here to see him.
"He's so down to earth, he is so grounded," guest Margerie Solomon said.
Sonoma State Professor and political expert David McCuan said fundraising stops, not campaign stops in California where registered Democrats heavily outnumber Republicans, are a common part of every presidential race.
"You come to California because it's the ATM of national politics," McCuan said. "You come to California, even Donald Trump comes to California to raise money early and often."
The fundraising website for this event listed the price for admission as an attendee at $3,300. The price to host was listed as $100,000.
Restaurant owner C.C. Yin paid the champion level $25,000.
"There's no political talk," Yin said. "A true leader don't talk political…I like that."
So far, the Harris-Walz campaign has raised a total of $1 billion in this race. The Trump-Vance campaign has raised $642 million.
