Victims Take On Robbers In Stockton
STOCKTON, Calif. (CBS13) -- Two residents who were among the victims of half a dozen robberies in Stockton over the weekend
A 67-year-old man was trimming trees with a chainsaw behind a Safeway supermarket when a man approached him and demanded money at gunpoint, according to authorities.
The worker refused, and the suspect -- described only as a black male in his early 20s -- allegedly pulled the trigger.
The gun didn't fire, and the chainsaw-wielding victim chased the suspect for several blocks. The suspect is still at large.
In another incident across town, a 32-year-old store clerk came face-to-face with another suspect who brandished a revolver and attempted to rob him. The store employee wrestled with the suspect for the gun, which fired during the tussle.
The suspect, described as a black male in his late teens or early 20s, was likely shot in the torso and fled the store. Officers were the blood trail for a block and half and believe the wounded suspect was transported away from the scene.
Investigators suspect the suspect may have been driven all the way to the East Bay for treatment for the gunshot wound. No arrests have been made.
Authorities say taking on armed suspect is extremely risky and recommend that victims comply with the suspects' demands.
Anyone with information on either case is asked to contact the Stockton Police Department.
