Victim's Brother: Fatal Hit-And-Run Started With A Cigarette Request
WOODLAND (CBS13) — Investigators are seeing if the hit-and-run that claimed the life of a 58-year-old woman was an accident, or if it was intentional.
"She was a good person," said Manuel Flores, the brother of Alisa Horner. "She was always telling them how much she loved them.
And for Manuel, his sister will never be forgotten. Witnesses report she was run over by a white Buick LeSabre that sped off.
"For somebody to do that, I cannot put myself in that frame of mind."
After days on life support, the 58-year-old Alisa would succomb to her injuries on Tuesday at U.C. Davis Medical Center.
Woodland Police eventually arrested the alleged hit-and-run driver, Kristal Sutton, 28.
"As far as I understand it, she didn't even back up. She just kept driving over her."
Police are being vague as to whether they believe Sutton meant to run over Horner.
"It doesn't appear that they knew each other, but there was some dialogue."
The victim's brother says after reading the report, this wasn't a case of simple hit-and-run. But he says witnesses reported there was an argument before.
"She was in the parking lot and she asked her for a cigarette. Then I guess she had a confrontation with that girl, and then she just ran her over."
It's something police wouldn't confirm, but they do say Sutton's charges could be upgraded.
"This was devastating, because it wasn't expected. It really took my by surprise."
And police say they are still talking to witnesses to figure out exactly what happened.
Sutton is scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday.
