CHP: Driver Dies After Vehicle Swerved Off Road Into Sacramento River

LOCKE (CBS13) — The CHP says a man died after driving into the Sacramento River off of River Road near the town of Locke Friday night.

CHP says this was a solo-vehicle fatal crash in the area of River Road and Levee Road. No one else was hurt in this incident.

Police said the driver, a 42-year-old man from Galt, was extricated from a 2002 Ford Mustang and pronounced dead at the scene.

It is unclear what caused the crash. The driver reportedly swerved across oncoming traffic and into the river.

The Mustang was pulled up from the delta around 11 p.m. and appeared to have flipped over into the river, CHP said.

CHP is investigating the incident.
