Vandals Slash Tires On More Then 20 Vehicles In Tuolumne County Town
JAMESTOWN, Calif. (CBS13) - Vandals caused thousands of dollars in senseless damage to vehicles in the Jamestown Area early Monday morning.
Around 3:20 a.m., authorities began receiving phone calls from residents reporting the sidewall of their vehicles' tires had been slashed. Initial reports indicate vandals started in the area of 5th Avenue and Sierra and Preston lanes, according to a statement from the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Department.
Deputies searched the neighborhoods that were hit and learned that tires on more than 20 vehicles had been cut.
Deputies ask those who live nearby with surveillance footage to come forward so they can help identify the vandals. They also urge people to park their vehicles in the garage or in well-lit areas and recommend motion-triggered lighting.
Formerly a gold rush town, Jamestown is located on Highway 49 about 60 miles east of Stockton.
