Valley Fire Claims Most Of Lake County Winery
LAKE COUNTY (CBS13) — The region around the Valley Fire is known for its wineries. It's where the small-town charm of farm life meets the sophistication of wine country.
Both are crucial to the now fire-ravaged portion of Lake County. While some count their livestock and their blessings, some wineries are feeling the heat from the firestorm.
Thirty-five wineries rely on the $60 million grape crop in Lake County. One winery, Shed Horn Orchards, was mostly destroyed—only its tasting room and some cases survived. Several other vineyards have been damaged.
