UOP Forecast Shows Hope For Stockton Unemployment Rate
STOCKTON (CBS13) — Good news on the job front is coming out of Stockton, according to a new economic forecast from the University of the Pacific.
Jeff Michael with UOP's business forecasting center says there could be light at the end of Stockton's economic tunnel.
"We are gaining momentum as the overall economic recovery gains momentum," he said.
With the construction of a new correctional medical facility adding thousands of jobs, plus an improving housing and transportation, he says the fiscal forecast is looking sunny.
"All job growth and recovery will ultimately support consumer spending and help support revenue for the city and really help start a comeback," he said.
Michael's projections show a steady decrease in unemployment in Stockton from 15 percent in 2012 to single digits in 2017.
