Unseasonably Warm Temperatures To Drop Drastically

Temperatures in Sacramento approached record warmth Saturday, but very cold air will take hold of the state by the middle of the week.

Sacramento topped out at 69 degrees with the record for the day at 71. Sunshine and above-average temperatures will be the standard for the area until we get into Tuesday.

A system will pull cold Canadian air south, sparking the chance for rain and low elevation snow Tuesday. Snow levels could drop to 2,500 feet. The main expectation from this system will be the cold though.

By Thursday, Sacramento highs will be around 50 degrees with overnight lows dipping into the upper 20s.

Don't look for a quick warm up; the frigid air will stick around for several days with sunny skies overhead.
