Underage Dancers Caught In Modesto Club

MODESTO, Calif. (CBS13) -- State agents busted a Modesto bar for allegedly hiring underage exotic dancers last week and providing the teens with alcohol.

The California Alcohol Beverage Control agency said the Los Limenos bar in Modesto used two 17-year-old dancers during a packed party last Friday night. Only adults over the age of 21 are allowed into a bar, regardless if they are a patron or employee.

Employees said they had no idea the dancers were under 21 until after the event ended.

"We did not know they were underage, especially 17 years old," said security employee Migueal Ochoa.

State authorities said the underage dancers were performing pole dances and lap dances for men while dressed in lingerie.

"They were not naked, they were just night clothes. Lingerie clothes. Sexy lingerie," Ochoa said.

Ochoa said they should have checked the identification of the performers, but said the bar's owner hired a company to provide the entertainment. The company assured them all of the dancers were over 21, he said.

"Something happened that shouldn't have happened," Ochoa said.

ABC investigators said the blame falls squarely on the bar for allowing the girls to perform and serving them alcohol.

The bar no longer plans to hire exotic dancers for their events.

Authorities have already fined the bar $1,500 for serving alcohol to a minor and said more penalties could follow as the investigation continues.
