UC Davis To Introduce New Football Coach Monday
DAVIS (CBS13) - UC Davis has scheduled a Monday morning news conference to announce the school's new football coach.
The new coach will be just the program's fourth head coach since 1970 and will lead UC Davis in its 95th season of football in 2013. The Aggies will be entering their second season in the Big Sky Conference.
The school didn't name the new coach, but several media outlets reported Saturday night that Ron Gould, the former running back coach and associate head coach at Cal, has been hired. Gould spent 16 seasons at Cal but wasn't retained after head coach Jeff Tedford was fired after this season.
Bob Biggs retired after this past season, his 20th as the Aggies' head coach. He retired with a career record of 144-85-1, the second-most wins in school history.
UC Davis went just 4-7 this season, but the Aggies sent Biggs out on a high note with a 34-27 win over Sacramento State in the annual Causeway Classic rivalry game.
Monday's news conference will take place at 10 a.m. on campus. It's not open to the general public but live audio from the news conference will be available online on the school's sports website. Fans can also follow coverage of the news conference via the Aggies' official Twitter account (@UCDavisAggies).
