UC Davis Students React To Attempted Arson At Frat House
DAVIS (CBS13) - UC Davis police are continuing their investigation into an arson attempt at a frat house on Sunday night.
Police say someone tried to blow up a Kappa Sigma Fraternity house at 642 Adams Street at around 1 a.m. by turning on gas burners on the kitchen stove and then trying to light a fire in the bathroom.
Students say they're glad police contacted them about the incident.
"It makes me feel secure knowing that the campus I go to will let me know if something is going on – will let me know that something is going on in the community, and if it's something that I need a heads-up for," said Inder Grewal, a UC Davis student.
"I think it's up to the students that go here to stop doing these things and get their things together," said Dylan Fakhimi, a UC Davis student.
About 40 people gathered at the home Sunday evening for a haunted house. Police are questioning those potential witnesses and warning students to be on the lookout for any suspicious activity.
Police are still following up on leads and are processing evidence found at the home.
There isn't a motive yet, but police say if it turns out to be a prank of any sort, that they would still consider criminal charges.
