Two People Injured In North Highlands Mobile Home Fire

NORTH HIGHLANDS, Calif. (CBS13) – Two people have been injured in a mobile home fire, according to authorities.

The blaze broke out at in a mobile home at the Lamplighter Mobile Home Park at 5040 Jackson Street in North Highlands.

A SMUD employee working nearby says a woman poked her head out of a window of the mobile home asking for a fire extinguisher.  He says by the time he went to his truck for the extinguisher and returned, flames were shooting out the front door.

Two elderly women suffered minor burns and smoke inhalation.  One woman was apparently injured when she tried to go back into the home to rescue a cat.  The cat has still not been found.

Fire fighters believe an overloaded power strip may have sparked the fire.
