Two People Hurt After Shoot Out In Lodi Alley Overnight

LODI (CBS13) - Two people have been shot during a shoot out in a Lodi alley overnight.

The shooting took place just off the 500 block of East Pine around 2 a.m.

Lodi police say a man and a woman were walking in the alley when they were approached by three men who asked them if they were in a gang.

The man and woman did not answer and kept walking out of the alley.  The suspects then began shooting.  The man was hit in the back.  The woman was not hit.

Moments later, a man in a Mercedes arrived to reportedly pick up the man and woman.  The suspects then fired into the car shooting the driver point blank in the head.

Lodi police say the driver of the Mercedes is in critical condition and has been paralyzed.

Police have one suspect in custody and are searching for the other two.

Police are still trying to sort out what led to the shooting.  Officers say the victims appear to be older than most gang members but may have previously been involved in gangs.
