Two Detained In Bay Area Jewelry Robbery Spree
OAKLAND (AP) — Two Oakland men are being held on suspicion of stalking older Alameda County residents and robbing them of their gold jewelry in a four-month spree.
Fremont police Detective Michael Gebhardt tells the Fremont Argus that 27-year-old Daryl Dove and 32-year-old Matthew Howard are facing felony robbery charges in connection with the alleged crimes.
Gebhardt says the two men would typically scope out older Asians wearing gold jewelry at busy stores like Walmart.
He says they would then follow the victims home and rob them at gunpoint when they exited their vehicles.
P0lice say a 65-year-old woman's arm was broken during one robbery.
The men are being held at Santa Rita Jail in Dublin and are scheduled to appear in court Jan. 18. It wasn't clear whether they had attorneys.
