Two Arrested For False Amber Alert

STOCKTON, Calif. (CBS13) -- Two people have been arrested for allegedly fabricating a kidnapping story that sparked a statewide Amber Alert on Saturday.

The Stockton Police Department said Rockelle D. Moore and his girlfriend Beatrice Victoria Rollins were arrested Sunday for telling authorities Moore's 3-year-old son and 6-year-old daughter were kidnapped during a carjacking attempt Saturday afternoon.

The children were home safe with their mother, who called authorities when she saw a statewide Amber Alert had been issued.

Police said investigators wasted a significant amount of resources trying to find the two children, but have not yet calculated a dollar amount for the false alarm.

Authorities said Moore may have believed more police would search for his stolen car if they believed his kids were inside.
