Two Arrested After Botched Kidnapping

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - A man and woman were arrested by Sacramento County sheriff's deputies after taking a 3-year-old girl from her mother at a Sacramento Motel 6 on Wednesday.

The incident started at the Motel 6 at 4600 Watt Avenue, and deputies tracked down the suspects at a Motel 6 on Madison Avenue.

Theophilus Tucker, 19, and Dominique Evans, 26 were booked on charges including kidnapping, false imprisonment, threats to commit great bodily injury and conspiracy.

Tucker and Evans tried to hid in a maintenance closet and briefly took a hotel worker hostage inside the closet before deputies surrounded it and they gave up.

Tucker also was charged with a violation of parole.

Tucker is the father of the young girl and took her from her mother. The girl was not harmed and was returned to her mother.
