Tsunami Advisory Issued For Japan After Quake Strikes Off Cosat
A 6.9-magnitude earthquake off the east coast of Japan has prompted a tsunami advisory for the same area hit by a devastating tsunami in 2011, NHK Worldwide reports.
Japan's Meteorological Agency issued a tsunami advisory for Iwate Prefecture following the offshore earthquake. The agency reports a tsunami up to one meter high could reach coastal Iwate Prefecture, says NHK.
The quake occurred off northeastern Japan at around 3 p.m. pacific time at a depth of 10 kilometers.
