Triple Digits Return For Weekend
Triple digit temperatures are returning for the weekend, and it won't take long for things to heat up on Friday.
Sacramento, Stockton and Modesto will see temperatures peak around 99 degrees by about 4 p.m., while Folsom, Roseville, Yuba City and Oroville will likely top off at 100 degrees around the same time.
Even the Sierra will be sweltering, with highs in the low 90s -- just a few degrees from record territory.
Low temperatures Friday night will level off in the low 60s for the valley, and hover around the 70 degree mark for the foothills.
Saturday will be even warmer, with highs area-wide in the low triple digits. Sunday temperatures will still be right around100 with plenty of sunshine. Although, we might see a few high clouds start to drift in the region from the south.
It's the start of the monsoon season in the southwestern U.S., and that moisture streaming up into California could result in an isolated thunderstorm in the Sierra before the weekend is through.
The triple digit heat will break beginning Monday. Until then, the city of Sacramento is urging people to conserve water, issuing a "Spare the Water" alert through Monday.
