Trial Date Set In Civil Suit Naming Sacramento Kings' Tyreke Evans
MEDIA, Pa. (AP) -- A trial date has been set in a wrongful-death suit naming NBA player Tyreke Evans as a defendant.
The Sacramento Kings guard and three others are named in suit stemming from the death of a teenager in a November 2007 drive-by shooting near Evans' home in Chester, just south of Philadelphia. The trial is scheduled to begin July 13.
Evans' cousin, Jamar Evans, is serving a nine- to 20-year prison term after admitting he fired out the passenger-side door of the NBA star's SUV and killed 19-year-old Marcus Reason.
Tyreke Evans was then a highly recruited high school player. He testified for prosecutors during a preliminary hearing and was never charged with a crime.
Reason's family is seeking more than $50,000 in the suit filed in Delaware County.
