Wanted Attempted Homicide Suspect Arrested In Tracy

TRACY (CBS13) - A wanted suspect who ran from his vehicle Thursday afternoon in Tracy is now in custody.

The Tracy Police Department said the suspect, a 17-year-old male, is believed to be connected to a June 19, 2019, shooting that injured one person on the 300 block of N. West Street in Tracy. After months of investigation, officers were able to identify a suspect in the shooting and spotted him Thursday getting into a vehicle in Tracy.

Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop and the suspect, a passenger in the vehicle, got out and left running.

A SWAT team was dispatched after the suspect fled in the area of Mae Avenue and Beverly Place. A perimeter was set in the neighborhood between East Street and Mae Avenue, between Acacia Street and Hollywood Avenue.

The suspect was later located during the search in a backyard along the 200 block of E. Carlton Way, Tracy PD said. The suspect was found with a handgun.

Tracy PD said the arrestee was booked into the San Joaquin County Juvenile Hall on charges relating to a 2019 attempted homicide and other firearms-related charges.

No further information has been released at this time.
