Tracy Still Catching Up On Plant Overgrowth Problems
TRACY (CBS13) — Plants are growing big in the drought for the second time in two years, causing big problems again in Tracy.
It may be hot, dry and water-deprived, but some plants in Tracy thrive. Unfortunately some residents think they're the wrong kind of plants.
Last summer, a contract dispute between Tracy and Sycamore Landscaping in Livermore caused the plants to go wild. The city says it cut ties with the company on May 28, and Tracy residents told CBS13 they noticed the deterioration of service less than a month later.
But almost a year later, Tracy homeowners say the medians, sidewalks and parks don't look much better.
Public works director David Ferguson says the previous landscaping issue created a big overgrowth problem that will take several more months for new contractor XL Landscape Development of Sacramento to fix.
"Public works crews attempted to stop the bleeding, but there was a month were very little maintenance was going on. There was a lot of catching up to do," he said.
