Top Winter Break Camps and Activities
Keep little minds and bodies active this break and register them for a new camp or class. A plethora of area offerings include crafts, soccer, gymnastics, and a bit of culture. And camps aren't just for the grade school set. Sacramento United coaches soccer players up to age 18. Check out this list - your child even may find a new passion to carry forward into the New Year.

Make an investment in your child's imagination and enroll them in Winter Wonderland at Art Beast. Art Beast is for children ages 4 to 7 and focuses on the season of winter rather than on particular holidays. Activities include art, storytelling, movement and dramatic play. Pack a bag lunch. Parents may stay and play with their children before or after camp each day. A portion of the camp fees support Tubman House a residence for homeless families.

Register your favorite soccer players for Sacramento United's evening Goal Scoring and Goalkeeping Camp. Kids ages 5 to 18 may attend the camp, which is held at Granite Regional Park in Sacramento. Camp proceeds assist needy families with the costs of competitive soccer. The club also offers free soccer clinics for ages 4 to 7 at Granite Regional Park on Wednesdays from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., through Feb. 23rd. There is no free clinic on Dec. 29th.

Got a wiggly one? Flip 2 It offers camps for children ages 5 and up during school breaks. Activities include trampoline, gymnastics, dancing, arts and crafts, fitness games and climbing. Pack a snack or sack lunch for the longer session. The center will add staffing for camps according to demand.

Dec. 26 is a free museum admission day courtesy of Target. The Kwanzaa Family Festival runs from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Enjoy music and dance performances, a studio art workshop and storytelling, or peruse the museum's galleries. On Dec. 29th, the museum hosts a screening of the animated film "The Nightmare before Christmas" at 7 p.m. Explore Tim Burton's movie characters during a drawing workshop with local artist Sarma Karsiere before the film at 6:30 p.m. The event is free to museum members. Non-members pay $5 in advance or $10 at the door. You can buy tickets on their website.
