Top 5: Who Has The Best Shot At Winning Super Bowl MVP?
We are just days away from the television's biggest show of the year - the 50th Super Bowl is so close, you can almost taste it.
With players interviewed for the umpteenth time in a span of a week, the only thing to look forward to is the game itself. And with each Super Bowl, one player shines brighter than the rest: the Most Valuable Player.
To predict Sunday's MVP, here are the five most likely players to win the coveted award:
5. Von Miller
Miller has been on a tear this season. As a vocal leader on the Broncos number one defense, he has a pretty good chance of standing out in the big game.
If Miller can constantly get to Cam Newton, putting pressure on the pocket and making some big plays, then he will have a pretty good shot of becoming the MVP. Despite only nine of the last 50 MVP's being defensive players, why not Miller?
4. Ted Ginn Jr.
Ginn has been one of Newton's favorite targets this season, putting up career numbers in Carolina. He can catch, return and he is prepared to burn any cornerback assigned to him.
The Panthers may take advantage of Ginn's world-class speed if they see him mismatched out on that football field. Despite a slow showing in the postseason thus far, look for him to possibly have a big day on offense.
3. Peyton Manning
We all know Manning is on his way to the Hall of Fame. Another Super Bowl is just another ho-hum accomplishment for the eldest Manning brother, but another Super Bowl MVP? Well, that could very much become a reality.
He's won the award already in 2007 with a win over the Chicago Bears despite throwing for just 247 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He could easily repeat those numbers to win it again. He'll just have to ensure he beats the Panthers.
2. Greg Olsen
The tight end has had an outstanding season, and his chemistry with Newton on the field has been a treat to watch in the playoffs. In the two playoff games this season, he's had 190 yards and a touchdown, leading the team (and it's not even close).
He has a knack for finding the end zone, so keep an eye out for No. 88 when the Panthers creep into the red zone.
1. Cam Newton
Newton has by far been the most prolific athlete in the NFL in the last few weeks. His style on and off the field captivate audiences, his smile and swagger seem to attract the attention from all football fans alike - whether they love him or hate him, he will be a focal point in Sunday's game.
He has show he can lead his team and motivate both sides of the ball within the game, why not win a season MVP and Super Bowl MVP award? He has a great shot to capture both this year.
