Top 5 Teammate Fights
If you haven't heard by now, Geno Smith, the starting quarterback for the New York Jets is going to miss 6-10 weeks with a broken jaw after getting punched in the face by a teammate.
Ik Enemkpali was upset over a $600 plane ticket for which he expected Smith to pay him back.
Teammates are supposed to be a family, have each other's back, and protect each other, but it doesn't always work out that way.
Fights between teammates and coaches are common.
Here are the top five fights between teammates:
5. Brian Cushing and Antonio Smith
Typically, after a sack in the NFL, the defensive player does some sort of dance or other form of show boating. This time, it was a fight. A fight between two Houston Texans players.
Not only did it make the team look ridiculous, it also cost the Texans a 15 yard penalty and put the Titans in field goal position.
4. Marcus Camby and Jeff Van Gundy
Ok, so this one wasn't really a fight between teammates, but it's too funny not to put in the list. New York Knicks center Marcus Camby was mad at the Spurs for hitting him on the head. When he goes to throw a punch, he accidentally hits his own head coach, Jeff Van Gundy in the head...OOPS!
3. Jim Leyland and Barry Bonds
It shouldn't really surprise anyone that Barry Bonds would get into fights with his teammates. It probably shouldn't even surprise you that he got into fights with his manager as well. Pittsburgh Pirates manager Jim Leyland would not have any of it though. (Be aware of profane language)
2. Vernon Davis and Parys Haralson
This is the more common fight between teammates in sports. Training camp can get heated between teammates. There's a lot of pushing and shoving throughout the day and sometimes the egos can kick into another level. That's exactly what happened with Vernon Davis and Parys Haralson.
1. Gilbert Arenas and Javaris Crittenton
This wasn't as much of a fight as it is an altercation. But it was a crazy altercation. The story goes, the two Washington Wizards players got into a disagreement on the team flight which carried over into the next day in practice. Gibert Arenas placed a couple guns on Javaris Crittenton's chair and told him to pick one. Nobody was shot, but the threat alone makes this the worst teammate fight in sports.
