Top 5 Kings Games You Must Go To
If you're a Sacramento Kings fan, you are well aware that this is the last season of the Sleep Train Arena era.
The NBA schedules were released yesterday and fans can now plan out which games they will attend during this final season before the new arena.
There is a lot of debate whether the Kings will live up to the talent level of the team, but either way, there are at least five games which every Kings fan needs to try to attend.
Take note, these are not in order of importance, but in order of date.
1. Opening Night- Los Angeles Clippers @ Sacramento Kings, October 28th
Who doesn't love opening night? All of the hope in world is shoved into Sleep Train Arena. The crowd is loud. The players are excited for the season.
If the team wins, the immediate thought is 82-0. If the team loses, it's 0-82.
No single game can shape the way someone thinks of the team like opening night.
Also throw in the fact that it's the last opening night at Sleep Train Arena.
2. Golden State Warriors @ Sacramento Kings, November 7th
The battle of the two Northern California teams is always a sell out at Sleep Train, but this year, there are some added bonuses to the match-up.
The Warriors are the reigning champions. Every team gives a little bit more of an effort when the champs come to town.
Not only are the Warriors champions, but they recently signed Jason Thompson. He has been one of the most beloved Kings players in recent history. You can bet that the fans will show him a lot of love when he steps on the Sleep Train court.
Honorable mention- Stephen Curry and Seth Curry have a chance to play against each other for the first time in their professional careers.
3. Los Angeles Lakers @ Sacramento Kings, January 7th
It's always a big game when the rival Lakers come to town. The Lakers fans show up in big numbers and create a fun atmosphere inside of the arena.
The game on January 7th will be a little different though. This could be the last time Kobe Bryant will play a game in Sacramento.
It will be fun to see what kind of reception the future hall of famer will get from the Sacramento fans. He's been a part of a heated rivalry of the years.
Will he be cheered for his success over the years, or will he continue to be booed by the Kings' fans?
Side note- it's also going to be on TNT. Sacramento fans love to be loud for those games.
4. Denver Nuggets @ Sacramento Kings, February 23rd
What's so special about the Nuggets coming to town? Well, the man coaching the team is very familiar to Sacramento.
Michael Malone is the new head coach of the Nuggets. It will be the first time he will return as the head coach of a different team.
He will receive a lot of love from the Sacramento fans.
It was tough to see the coach leave while the team was having success last season, so you can bet there will be excitement when Malone shows up on the visitor's side of the court.
5. Oklahoma City Thunder @ Sacramento Kings, April 9th
April 9th will be the last regular season game at Sleep Train Arena.
It will be a bitter sweet night for the team and its fans. Of course, everyone is excited for the new arena, but there are a lot of memories in old building.
Emotions will be high, especially when the last buzzer sounds.
Hopefully, the Kings can make the post-season and make sure the team's last game in Sleep Train is a playoff game.
Whether they do or not, the last home game of the regular season will be the end of a long and memory filled era.
