The FIFA Scandal
On May 27, 2015, seven members of the The Fédération Internationale de Football Association governing body were arrested in a Zurich Hotel. According to BBC, these members and 16 others are now being charged with over $200 million (£132m) in bribery and kickbacks. Being that the World Cup is the most watched sport every 4 years, you can see why this was one of the most controversial stories this year.
The Infamous 'Deflategate'
This one will more than likely NEVER go away! It all started in 2014 when the New England Patriots defeated the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC Championship. According to USA Today, the footballs being used were deflated, and Brady was the man accused. Brady was subsequently suspended for 4 games due to the deflated footballs, but was later overturned. The case is still ongoing. We can't wait for this to be over!
Wife Of Redskins General Manger Tweets Inappropriate Comment About Dianna Russini
This story was quite shocking to say the least. According to ESPN, Jessica McCloughan tweeted a vulgar comment that insinuated that ESPN reporter Dianna Russini gets her stories by giving "favors."
McCloughan quickly gave an apology stating: "My comments in no way reflect the opinions or attitudes of the organization and I regret that my behavior has in any way negatively impacted the team and its loyal fan base." Although she apologized, it's still awful of her to make a disparaging comment about another woman for no reason!
