On her final appearance on the Late Show, which says its final farewell on May 20, Fey showed up in a blue and black dress (no, it wasn't that blue and black dress) and let the host know that she doesn't dress up for every late night host. Letterman agreed she looked great, comparing her to Kate Middleton.
But, Fey wasn't fishing for compliments, she just wanted to let Letterman know that after 20 times appearing on the show, she was done dressing up for late night appearances. It was out of respect for him that she would put on the "contraption," better known as Spanx.
She would never wear a dress again for Jimmy Fallon, "he's like my brother," she said, or wear fancy underwear for James Corden.
