Timeline Of Samuel Nathan Duran Standoff After Alleged Roseville Shooting
ROSEVILLE (CBS13) — Officers were on a routine crime sweep, not looking for parolee Samuel Nathan Duran, when they came face to face with him.
The night before, Roseville Police reported finding Duran—a well-known, validated gang member and wanted parolee—but he got away.
Friday afternoon at 3:03 p.m., a Roseville Police crime suppression unit was checking out apartment buildings. A federal ICE agent working as a gang expert joined them.
That's when they spotted Duran riding a bike on Sixth Street off of Riverside Avenue. One officer got out of his patrol car, but Duran allegedly took off into the neighborhood.
A minute later at 3:04, Roseville Police say Duran shot first, hitting the ICE agent. Calls went out saying, "Officer down," and several law enforcement agencies begin to head to the scene. The agent would be rushed to the hospital by a responding officer.
Another minute later at 3:05, Officers spot Duran on Sixth and Windsor where more gunfire is exchanged.
Duran is seen by witnesses jumping fences and running through yards. Police set up a perimeter and tell people to lock their doors.
Officers would find the suspect at a home on the 600 block of Hampton Avenue. A mother, father and their small child are able to escape before Duran allegedly opens fire again through an open window, injuring several more officers.
The last of the gunfire happened at around 5 p.m., setting the stage for a very tense standoff that lasted into the early hours of Saturday.
Duran would surrender at 12:30 a.m. on Saturday.
