Three Sentenced To Life For 2006 Crime Spree

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) -- Three Northern California men will be spending the rest of their lives in prison after being sentenced for a string of crimes that included the fatal shooting of an 18-year-old man in the doorway of his parents' home.

Alex Brown Jr., Terry Larell Alexander and David Jacob Carrera were sentenced to a combined total of nearly 2,500 years for the week-long crime rampage in Sacramento more than five years ago.

The Sacramento Bee reports that all three men were convicted in May of the murder of James Ramirez in January 2006.

They were also convicted of a home-invasion attack on drug dealers in late December 2005, as well as the robbery and the kidnappings of two friends of Ramirez, before the teen was shot.

The 33-year-old Carrera was given the longest sentence-- 1,470 years in prison. The 34-year-old Brown received 544 years, while the 25-year-old Alexander received 478 years.
