Three Reasons Why The Cavs Don't Stand A Chance
The NBA Finals start tomorrow night, pitting the best player on the planet (LeBron James) against the best player this season (Steph Curry). The Warriors dominated the regular season (and the playoffs, for the most part), while the Cavs have limped their way through a weak Eastern Conference, losing Kevin Love to injury and damaging Kyrie Irving in the process. Some people will try to convince you that LeBron alone is enough to put Cleveland past Golden State - and those people are wrong.
1. David Blatt Is Out Of His Element
Both teams have first-year head coaches, but Blatt has more experience, having had success overseas before being charged with bringing a title to Cleveland. Despite that, Steve Kerr has shown repeatedly that he is a step ahead of his counterparts, while Blatt has spent most of the season watching LeBron call the shots. Advantage: Golden State.
2. The Cavs Have A Superstar; The Warriors Have One Too, And Then Some
LeBron is magnificent, sure, but the Cavs are counting on the likes of Iman Shumpert, Matthew Dellavedova, J.R. Smith, and a (potentially) broken Kyrie Irving to pick up the slack if LeBron goes through a lull. The Warriors, on the other hand, have Klay Thompson, Harrison Barnes, Draymond Green, and Andre Iguodala (among many others). Advantage: Golden State.
3. The Warriors Are Unstoppable At Home
Golden State went 39-2 at home during the regular season, and they have home court advantage for the finals. That's pretty much the end of that. Advantage: Golden State.
