3 People Injured In Personal Watercraft Collision On Lake Tahoe
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE (CBS13) - Three people were hospitalized on Monday after the two personal watercraft they were riding collided near Timbercove Beach on Lake Tahoe.
The family of four rented two watercraft from Timbercove Marina, and the father, 47-year-old Sufian Kazmi of San Jose, was on one, while his wife, Subia Kazmi, rode on the other. The couple's children, a 7-year-old girl and a 5-year-old boy, each rode with a parent, said South Lake Tahoe police in a press release.
At around 9:45 a.m., the watercraft were about a quarter mile north and west of Timbercove Beach traveling about 30 mph when the watercraft being driven by the mother cut in front of the father, causing it to be broadsided.
The girl suffered severe injuries to her leg and foot and was flown to Reno for medical assistance. The father was relatively unhurt.
The boy and his mother were taken to the Barton Hospital with moderate head and leg injuries.
Neither of the parents had any experience operating personal watercraft.
