Thieves Steal Elderly Woman's Dogs From Backyard
YUBA CITY (CBS13) -- An 82-year-old woman is heartbroken after someone stole her two dogs right out of her backyard. The two mini Doberman Pinschers were a gift from a friend who's since passed away, and now she's trying anything to get them back.
"It's been very hard, they're like my babies because my kids are all grown and gone," says Betty Younkers.
Betty has felt loss before, but never did she think she would lose her best friends to a crime.
"I just can't believe a person can do that; just go and take your dogs like that," she told CBS13.
Today, she is left empty just four days after she put her two miniature Pinschers, Calvina and Rena, outside to the use the restroom.
When Betty went back to get them from the backyard her gate had been jimmied and her dogs were gone; apparent victims of a dognapping.
"I'm hard of hearing and they were my ears and they made me feel safe," said Betty.
Knowing someone was willing to steal her friends from her own home, Betty no longer feels safe, and what's worse is the dogs were a present from a friend who passed.
"I'm worried if they're in good hands and if they're hurting, or they separated the mother and the baby because they were bonded," Betty said.
But, as time goes by Betty is losing hope, but offers a plea for help.
"I won't ask any questions or anything, I just want my babies home because they're all I have," she pleads.
