Thieves Steal 1,500 Pounds Of Food From Church
GARDEN GROVE, Calif. (AP) -- A charity is racing to replace 1,500 pounds of food for needy children after the donations were stolen from a Southern California church.
The Orange County Register reports that two storage sheds in the parking lot of the St. Anselm of Canterbury Episcopal Church in Garden Grove were broken into earlier this week.
The charity Grandma's House of Hope uses the sheds to store meals destined for schoolchildren who can't afford to eat on weekends and after school.
Volunteers had plans to pack the food on Saturday, but the charity must first go shopping.
It's also accepting nonperishable donations including peanut butter, canned fruit and healthy snacks.
