The Legend of Sauce Castillo

Its been a trying year for Sacramento Kings fans.

You could cut/paste the above sentence, and insert it pretty much in the middle of any March over the last decade, but Kings fans always come back for more. In addition to being the best fans in the NBA, they continue to also be perhaps the most creative.

In the midst of winning their 4th in a row, KingsNation came up with their latest masterpiece.

It all started with NBA viewer Andrew Unterberger noticing something peculiar with his closed captioning....

Sauce Castillo??

Not only was it ridiculously random, but oh so not fitting for Nik Stauskas, the sharp-shooting Canadian rookie. You would expect Nik's nickname to be something like "The Quick", or "The Mouse Stauskas" or something not very creative and fun.

Sauce Castillo sounds like a cross between a 70's cop movie and an athlete pseudonym at a hotel.

In other words, perfect.

Then it started picking up steam:

Noted basketball writer Dan Devine:

The popular website KingsFans.com took off with it:

Then the rookie himself got off the plane and checked his mentions, and as UFC Play-by-Play voice Mike Goldberg says:

"IT IS ALL OVER".......

I'LL TELL YOU WHAT IT MEANS ROOK!! Y'ALL GOTS A NEW NICKNAME!!!

Legendary voice of the Kings, Gary Gerould, helped seal the deal:

Can we all stop for a second and acknowledge how great that last tweet is? Gary Gerould is a living legend, and he joins in on the fun.

Last but not least, its never a done deal until the team signs off on it.

Whoops, THAT HAPPENED:

Oh, and it's also having effects on the court:

Again, let's just pause for a second and recap. There's so much awesome in the tweets above, just take a moment and re-read them.

I'll wait.

Still waiting.

Did you ACTUALLY re-read them?

Here's a picture of a cat while you wait:

MEOWSKAS
MEOWSKAS

Slim Shady.

Ziggy Stardust.

Hannah Montana.

Sauce Castillo.

Let March 25th, 2015 forever be remembered, in a day of fake kidnappings and flying bear stories, that the Sauce was the Boss.

God Bless Kings fans.
