The Grant Napear Show - August 24, 2012
Today on the Grant Napear Show, a lot of the talk was about Lance Armstrong dropping his fight with the United States Anti-Doping Agency. Grant gave his thoughts on what it means that Armstrong waved the white flag with the USADA. Grant took calls about Lance Armstrong, the Red Sox and Dodgers trade and Sacramento Kings. Grant interviewed Paul Gutierrez, Jim Plunkett, Kenny Albert and Sam Rosen.
Paul Gutierrez, from CSN Bay Area, was on with Grant today to discuss the Oakland Raiders. First, Paul discussed Carson Palmer and how Oakland's offense is progressing. He said that Palmer has begun taking blame for mistakes and is being more of a leader. Grant also asked Paul about the questions in the Raiders linebacker corps, and Paul gave updates on Aaron Curry and Rolando McClain. Next, Paul discussed the Raiders upcoming game against the Detroit Lions and why both Richard Seymour and Stephen Wisnewski will sit out the week three preseason contest. Finally, Paul talked about Dennis Allen and how the new coaching staff is doing in Oakland.
Oakland Raiders' broadcaster Jim Plunkett came on with Grant today to talk about the Raiders as the preseason winds down. Grant and Jim talked about Carson Palmer and what the Raiders will look for out of the starters as they play more in week three of the preseason. Jim also discussed Al Davis and how the organization is moving forward in its first full season since his passing.
Kenny Albert from Fox Sports was on with Grant today to talk about Major League Baseball and discuss some NFL Football. First, Kenny talked about Carl Crawford and the Red Sox and Dodgers trade involving Crawford, Adrian Gonzalez, Josh Beckett and Nick Punto all going from Boston to Los Angeles. Kenny is covering the Giants and Braves game tomorrow, and talked about how the Giants have responded to Melky Cabrera's suspension. Kenny also talked about the Redskins and how Robert Griffin III is fitting in there. Finally, Kenny and Grant talked about replacement referees in the NFL, and whether the NHL can get their labor talks done in time for the start of the season and avoid a lockout.
Chicago Bears preseason broadcaster Sam Rosen was on with Grant today to talk about NFL preseason football. First, however, Grant and Sam discussed the NHL labor talks and if they would hash out a deal to avoid a lockout. Sam then talked about calling the Redskins and Colts game on Saturday, and how both Robert Griffin III and Andrew Luck have the futures of their teams in their hands. He said Griffin III gives the Redskins a lot of hope, while Andrew Luck shows a lot of similar characteristics to Peyton Manning. Next, Sam discussed the Chicago Bears, Matt Forte, Michael Bush, and why the Bears' offensive line and Brian Urlacher were places of concern for Chicago heading into week one. Finally, Sam and Grant talked about the 49ers and how they've gotten better by acquiring depth this off-season.
