Grant was reporting live from Raiders Training Camp in Napa today, and many of the Raiders players and coaching staff took some time out to join the show including Carson Palmer, Greg Knapp, Darren McFadden, Richard Seymour, and local product Miles Burris.
Carson Palmer expressed his excitement for the upcoming Raiders season, the franchise's first without longtime owner Al Davis. Palmer says the group is ready to make the transition and is eager to show that they're capable of carrying on the Silver & Black tradition.
Offensive Coordinator Greg Knapp talked about his new job with the Oakland Raiders. Knapp discussed some of the toys he'll have with the Raiders' offense and how he plans to utilize star running back Darren McFadden.
Washington Nationals' color analyst F.P. Santangelo checked in after the Nats beat up on the Giants for the second time in the last three games. Santangelo gave his thoughts on today's news that San Francisco Giants outfielder Melky Cabrera has been suspended for 50 games following a positive test for performance-enhancing drugs.
John Smoltz joined for his weekly segment and led off with his thoughts on Melky Cabrera's suspension and how it effects the Giants moving forward. Smoltz also gave his opinion on Stephen Strasburg approaching his pre-determined innings limit and how he would've responded had he been on a team that made a similar decision.
Darren McFadden stopped by after the walkthrough, discussing the changes in the offensive scheme, how to shed his label as "injury prone", what it's like having a full training camp with Carson Palmer, where he feels most dangerous on the football field, and what it's like to deal with the week-to-week punishment of being an NFL running back.
Richard Seymour dropped in after practice to talk about the changes around the Raiders' facility this season and how the group is dealing with the turnover between the coaches and the front office staff. Seymour raved about the skill of Darren McFadden and discussed how the defense will adjust after being the major weakness of last year's team.
Raiders rookie and Granite Bay HS product Miles Burris talked about living out his dream as an NFL player, saying the field is leveled slightly in his competition for playing time with all the coaching turnover - even the veterans are trying to learn a new system.
