Hall-of-Fame Quarterback and current Seattle Seahawks broadcaster Warren Moon checked in as part of Grant's NFL previews to give a forecast for the Seahawks' 2012 season. Moon says the defense expects to be a solid unit after performing well last year, especially towards the end of the season. Marshawn Lynch, according to Moon, appears to have learned a great deal from his offseason DUI but admits that Lynch still needs to prove that he can consistently avoid letting his team down away from the field. Matt Flynn, the Seahawks' prize free-agency quarterback acquisition, should have every chance to be the starting QB but needs to show that his stellar performances in limited action in Green Bay as a backup to Aaron Rodgers weren't just a result of his surroundings. Moon closes things up by giving his thoughts on the 49ers as well as the league's two hot rookie quarterbacks, Andrew Luck of the Indianapolis Colts and Robert Griffin III of the Washington Redskins.
MLB Network analyst John Smoltz joined for his weekly visit and led off by lamenting recent demise of his golf game before diving into Matt Cain's struggles since throwing his perfect game. Smoltz and Grant talked about the A's, as well, who continue to win games despite having some glaring statistical inaccuracies; Bobby Valentine's insistence that his sub-.500 Boston Red Sox are a playoff team; the Washington Nationals' continued stay at the top of the NL East and how they're going to handle the arm of Stephen Strasburg, who the front office has insisted all along will be shut down once he pitches a certain amount of innings this year despite the team's success; and the under-the-radar dominance of the Cincinnati Reds, even without superstar Joey Votto.
