The Grant Napear Show - April 18, 2012

Wednesday's show came from Power Balance Pavilion as the Kings prepared to host the San Antonio Spurs. After opening the show, Grant turned the first half hour over to Jason Ross when the band scheduled for a postgame concert elected to warm up during the early stages.

Scott Howard-Cooper of NBA.com stopped by while at the arena to frame the current arena situation in Sacramento, saying that the open letters on behalf of the city need to stop. Scott says that the city is in danger of creating a deeper rift between themselves and the Maloofs. The bottom line was that a lot of this can be solved with a winning product on the floor and some end to the uncertainty before the start of next season.

Grant's Rant was about Donovan McNabb's recent comments that he thinks deserves a spot in the Hall of Fame.

Bill Walton stopped by later on to preview tonight's game. Walton will be calling the game on 1140 The Fan with Gary Gerould. He also spun some tales about being coached by legend John Wooden while at UCLA and praised Isaiah Thomas for a tremendous rookie season.

Sean Elliott, former Spur and current television analyst for San Antonio also looked ahead to the night's contest and recapped the Spurs' dismantling of the Los Angeles Lakers. Elliott also had some kind words for Isaiah Thomas, saying that Coach Gregg Popovich chastised his staff after the last meeting between these teams for not selecting Isaiah in the most recent draft.

Jason Ross finished the show as usual on game days, fielding calls mostly regarding the recent breakdowns in arena negotiations between the city and the Maloofs.
