The Don Geronimo Show - August 22, 2012
Don begins by thanking loyal listener Dante for bringing in a Madden '12 game for Don to replace the one he wore out, and Don tells us how addicted he is to that game. We then hear the latest comments from Congressman Todd Akin, who now says that "false claims" were made in the famous Roe v. Wade Supreme Court case. Mark S. Allen from Good Day Sacramento drove by Don doing about 100 on Highway 80 this morning, and Don decides to call him up, only to have his call go to Mark's completely full voice mail. Mark then calls back to talk to Don about his hectic morning. After the guys talk about Michael Strahan becoming Kelly Ripa's new co host, the guys hear Steve Bryant's new parody song, about Todd Akin's "legitimate rape" comments.
The guys then talk fantasy football for a bit, and Don pulls out his Danny O'Day ventriliquist dummy. Don plays the instructional record that comes with it, and the guys each take turns trying out their own ventriliquist skills. We then get a visit from actor/comedian Jim Belushi. Jim, in the most awkward interview ever on the Don Geronimo Show, talks with Don about his upcoming performance at Cobb's Comedy Club in S.F., before turning cold and sour when Don asks him about his brother, the legendary John Belushi.
It's then time for a real class act to come on the show-Ex 49er and Hall Of Famer Ronnie Lott. Ronnie talks with the guys about being one of the most intimidating players ever, never having to talk smack on the field, how Bill Walsh's training camps have become the standard in the NFL, and how coach Jim Harbaugh has changed the culture in San Francisco, making the 49ers winners again. Don then has Craig tell Ronnie about his Bill Walsh tattoo, and Ronnie likes it so much that he tells Craig he's going to send him a jersey! He even does an intro for Phantom News!
After the guys talk about how great Ronnie is, and Craig tells us how emotional his girlfriend Paris gets whenever she hears Ronnie on the radio, Steve hips us to numerous websites that talk about how much of a douche bag Jim Belushi is. The guys then sing Steve's new parody song one more time, and we hear Kirk Cameron's asinine comments in defense of Todd Akin. It's then time for the "Phantom News Hour."
Today, Phantom tells us about a guys who got his car stolen by a prostitute he picked up, a 70 year old tennis offical who got arrested for bludgeoning her husband back in April, TV ratings for last week, and "Jimmy Kimmel Live" has been extended through 2015. And of course, Don wraps everything up with a caller 100!
